The Tarkett Design Team
Lise LeBreton, Creative Director
The sky’s the limit when it comes to design. That’s the view of Lise LeBreton, and as Creative Director for Tarkett, that approach is what drives her to consistently deliver new and innovative flooring creations that set industry trends. Colourful both in design choices and personality, Lise credits her flair for creativity to her lively upbringing in an Acadian fishing village, where adventure, singing, dancing and art-making were daily activities. There, she developped her passion for creating items from scratch and the joy of “day to day” living, and today transfers those pleasures into her work, delivering elegant yet practical and long-lasting designs to help Tarkett customers get the most out of life. With a psychology degree and MBA, Lise manages Tarkett’s team of design and technical professionals, overseeing the development of Tarkett’s range of products as well as participating in the development of product strategies. Passionate about her work, she finds inspiration for her unique designs everywhere around her – from international trade shows, nature and fashion runways, to magazines and television. “I spend a lot of time analyzing lifestyle and home fashion trends,” Lise explains. “My goal is to always go beyond the limits, to continually work to improve on what was done yesterday.”
Etienne Tarte, Technical Assistant, Design
Flooring has always been a part of Etienne Tarte’s life. With a father who has worked for Tarkett for nearly three decades, Etienne grew up in the floor covering environment. So it was only natural when he graduated with a Desktop Publishing diploma seven years ago, that he’d take on the responsibility of helping to design flooring for Tarkett. As a graphic artist for the company for the first five years, and Technical Assistant since 2005, Etienne has developed a solid understanding of market demands for flooring designs, enabling him to effectively provide Tarkett designers with the technical support needed to deliver top-notch products. Sensitive to quality, Etienne works closely with the company’s designers to create flooring colors based on designer specifications and customer requests, and provide technical assistance with color separations. He is also responsible for color monitoring on initial production runs, ensuring each product is accurately colored and stylish. “Through my education and work experience, I have developed a keen eye for detail and always strive to ensure customers receive the best product possible,” Etienne says, adding that he continually introduces new techniques into his work that help him meet this goal.
Marc, Technical Support Manager Design
Creating exceptional flooring designs is like sampling fine wine. It requires the distinct use of several senses: sight to create top-notch flooring designs, good taste to ensure customers are satisfied with the end product, and smell to sniff out opportunities to develop new designs that place Tarkett well ahead of the competition. It is this enthusiasm for creativity and attention to detail that has helped Marc excel in his role as Technical Support Manager, Design. With a Graphic Arts degree and 27 years of experience in Tarkett’s Style Department, Marc is responsible for managing color development of flooring prior to production, and overseeing the printing and embossing processes. A specialist in color, he thrives on successfully reproducing authentic materials in Tarkett’s flooring line and says he is meticulous about details in order to deliver the highest quality products to customers. “I’m passionate about creating leading-edge designs for the company,” says Marc, who describes his style as relaxed, with a touch of class. “Being part of a process that consistently brings new, dynamic looks to the market and sets industry trends, is a wonderful feeling.”
Stephanie Baker, Flooring Designer
Stephanie Baker is on a mission. As Flooring Designer for Tarkett, she strives to make her surroundings as lively as possible and envelope herself in sources of design ideas – from home and building shows, magazines and décor blogs, to painting, photography and gardening. Her goal? To get maximum inspiration so that she can help develop creative, first-class flooring designs for Tarkett customers. With a background in desktop publishing, graphic design and fine arts, Stephanie is responsible for conceiving and developing designs for Tarkett’s product line. Having grown up in a family who owned a furniture store, Stephanie developed her passion for decorating and renovating at a very young age. “My experience with renovating opened my eyes to the consumers’ point of view, and forced me to combine both my creativity with the practicalities of day-to-day living,” explains Stephanie. “It’s this approach that I bring to Tarkett as I constantly work to come up with better and newer designs.”
